The background chatter about teens leaving Facebook has been steadily increasing in volume practically all year.
Josh Leichtung's insight:
Social peer pressure of Facebook rears its ugly head. Kids are using Facebook more than ever, though many kids are abandoning Facebook for Tumblr, Twitter, and Instagram where they feel less pressured.
Kids are feeling compelled to check Facebook frequently to stay abreast of the latest happenings, and to check their social standing by keep track of the number of "Likes" they get on a post or picture. But kids think Facebook is just one big popularity contest that you can never get away from, and your history is ever on display.
Not sure how Zuckerberg can address this problem. Peer pressure has been, and likely always will be present in any social ecosystem. How do you "reinvent yourself" when your history follows you forever. Good luck kids!
